Commitment to their Indo-Pacific partnership and vowing to strengthen defence collaboration with a focus on co-development of futuristic technology. France hopes to become India’s most trusted partner in defence manufacturing by providing cutting-edge technology and equipment.

The dialogue was co-chaired by NSA Ajit Doval and French President Emmanuel Bonne’s diplomatic assistant, who later met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. There was also talk regarding French President Emmanuel Macron’s forthcoming visit to India.

According to the MEA, during the strategic conversation and meetings, India and France reaffirmed their commitment to advance their strategic cooperation to maintain peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific based on shared convictions in a rules-based international order and strategic autonomy. The situation in Ukraine and its influence on the global economy were discussed.

Third-country collaboration, Indo-Pacific cooperation, nuclear energy, space, and cyber domains were all among the issues highlighted.
